Head 2 Head

Head 2 Head

Settling those football debates once and for all

Throughout my years of following football, I’ve often found myself involved in many friendly debates with other fans. Who’s better? Who has been better? Who has won more? I’m not really alone in that. Pundits do it, journalists welcome it and the fans seem to live for it, whether it be in the local pub, a friends living room or on social media.

What I have noticed however is that much of the time these debates don’t really get resolved as a lot of the information and stats are spread all over the web on lots of different websites and are often sandwiched between other sets of content. This app was an attempt to collate all the relevant head to head stats available in one place with merely a few taps.

In phase one of the design process, the intention has been to ensure that the usability of the app is as simple as possible. All the stats and general information should only ever be a few taps away. Gregor

Four UX Questions

What I need to know

It’s one thing to be enthusiastic about an idea but it’s another thing entirely to know if all this effort will be worth your while. In other words, is this new project that I’m working on going to be of use?

Answering the following four questions is a great way to validate your project.

1. What problem am I solving?

During debates between two sets of supporters, a lot of the time in order for an argument to be resolved they might have to trawl the internet for specific stats. This app will solve this problem by collating it all in one place.

2. Who is the ideal user?

Specifically, the average football fan who enjoys a healthy debate about their favourite sport. In a broader sense, this idea could be applied to fans of any sport where one side faces off against the other.

3. What will the user want to do within the app?

This is an easy one. Mainly a football fan looking for some ammunition to use in a friendly debate between a supporter of another football team. They may also have a curiousity about the stats and information in general.

4. What will I also want the app to be used for?

Media publications will be able to place their content in the ‘Classic Moments’ section which will link out to their websites. This content would be relevant to the other information on the page and would be of value to the user.
